  • The Royal Barge Procession

The event begins at 15.30 Hrs. on 12 December, 2019.

The Royal Coronation Ceremony consists of three phases: the primary phase, royal coronation phase, and final phase. The Royal Barge Procession will be the final phase in the Coronation of His Majesty the King in 2019. On this occasion, the government invites the people to attend an audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen, who will travel in the Royal Barge Procession through the city along the Chao Phraya River, from the Wasukri Pier to the Ratchaworadit Pier.

The Royal Barge Procession comprises 52 barges, including four major royal barges; namely; the Suphannahong, or Golden Swan; the Anantanakkharat, or Multi-headed Naga; the Anekkachatphutchong, or Innumerable Naga Figures; and the Narai Song Suban King Rama IX. There will be 2,200 oarsmen to row the ceremonial barges. The trip will take about 45 minutes with a length of about 3.4 kilometres.

The government has prepared the Royal Barge Procession with the highest honours bestowed in accordance with royal traditions. Six locations have also been prepared to accommodate people for this occasion. They include Santichai Prakan Park, Thammasat University, Nagaraphirom Park, Siriraj Hospital, King Bhumibol's 72nd Birthday Anniversary Park, and under the Rama VIII Bridge, Thon Buri.: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/royal...070000975.html

    Mae Ya Nang Homage begins

Today, December 12, is a special day for Thailand, with the historical royal barge procession taking place on the Chao Phraya river. At 6.55 am, Admiral Luechai Ruddit, Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, presided over the ceremony to pay homage to Mae Ya Nang at the Thonburi navy dockyard where all the barges are moored.

The goddess Mae Ya Nang, who is the guardian of boats, has been respected since ancient times in accordance with the Thai belief that every tree has a guardian. Once a tree is cut and transformed into a boat, its guardian does not leave but instead stays on and protects the boat.: https://www.nationthailand.com/news/...ernal_referral

Early morning and security along the river started to tighten up.

      • Royal barge procession completes King's coronation

A spectacular royal barge procession on the Chao Phraya River for His Majesty the King marked the completion of the royal coronation ceremony on Thursday.

HM the King, accompanied by Her Majesty the Queen, started the procession at Wasukri pier. They disembarked at Ratchaworadit pier and proceeded to the Grand Palace.

Their Majesties travelled on the Suphannahong, considered the most gracious and beautiful barge.

The procession involved 52 ceremonial barges with 2,200 oarsmen, and travelled for 3.4 kilometres. Yellow-clad spectrators crowded the banks of the Chao Phraya River hours before the event began in a show of loyalty to the King and Queen.

The procession of barges was about 1,200 metres long, and 90 metres in width.: https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand...ngs-coronation
