Local yellow sweet mangoes just had a few weeks off at my local old womans stall. Now back at 50 a kilo

Ice lollies and smoothies back on the menu

You could buy the Japanese ones at Tops for 189 a kilo in the meantime but I got principles

I often stay at my sister in laws property which is about 5 ks outside of a small town. It has shops a 7/11 a bank even a coffin maker and a market. It also has a nice little coffee shop inside the market, which is nice to spend an hour or two reading the news on line. The rest of the time i go fishing in the local river.Or motorcycle around the surrounding area. You do need to have a reasonable understanding of Thai though. It is a very quiet life that I do enjoy but I dont know about doing it permanently. I would need to take occasional trips to Bangers to catch up with friends. with an occasional trip to other towns of interest.

Spent about 8 months staying in some long closed down resort miles out in the deepest darkside near Pattaya in 2004

At night I would fire up the music system while sitting at the dusty old bar. The old security guy was slumped in a plastic chair asleep most nights. Was a bit like The Shining. The owners were in London running their restaurant.

Those were my blind drunk and stoned days so it says a lot about how great rural living is meant to be
