Among the floating "Snickers Bars" littering the water there?
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

I like Pattaya, indeed there is a lot to like about it. It depends why you move to Thailand in the first place. To live a good lifestyle, at a good price, with all facilities & conveniences pretty much on your doorstep? Then Pattaya ticks the right boxes.

Or to pretend to be Thai, in a country that will never accept you as such? Then Patt's should be bottom of your list. Hope you like karaoke.

The place is a Mongers wet dream with bad traffic, sabang - don't kid yourself...

But, if reports are true, the Nymphs du Pave that work there are sub-par...

Gotta thank the mongers really- they pump loadsa money into the place, thus making viable the plethora of dining and entertainment venues the residents have to choose from. And I kinda doubt there would be two nearby international airports linked to Pattaya by Tollway, not to forget Bangkok (blegh) and Don Muang if it weren't for the tourist industry. Will even be a high speed railway soon, too. And, it would seem, a local tram service. I'm sure Pattaya was a perfectly charming fishing village in it's day, but those days are long gone.

P'sst- those aren't Pattayite's you see in the overpriced GoGo's, they're tourists. But Pattayite's own them. You are more likely to find the expats on a golf course, or scoffing seafood by the sea in BangSaray- or getting pissed in any number of darkside bars. Many if not most of our preferred hidey-holes are on the darkside, where most of us live/d. But plenty of others are quite happily ensconced in high rise apartments. And lets not forget the many working expats that live there too- Pattaya is a significant dormitory for them. That's why there are so many expensive international schools around.

For a seaside resort, I'd rather take a dip in the Ganges River than stick a toe in the waters of Pattaya Bay...

"The levels of fecal coliform bacteria from human waste in the river near Varanasi are more than a hundred times the Indian government's official limit."

                    Wonder what the "limit" is...

Those that might be fearful or unsure of reality reside within their Farang Ghettos.

...also those who have little patience with Thainess and just want to live their lives in peace with all mod cons functioning...

They are and I would hope most of the families of those fishermen (from years ago) are enjoying the benefits they are seeing today.

Pattaya saw it's best days when the battle-weary GI's came to spend a few days of R&R after chasing Charlie through the jungle.

I never once dipped a toe into the pristine waters of Pattaya Bay actually. That's mainly tourist stuff (and maybe the gays in the little beaches between Patt & Jomtien). Had my own swimming pool, still do actually.

So lets see- those who have never lived in Pattaya, maybe or maybe not visited the place once or twice say they wouldn't want to live there. But those who do- save the usual trainwrecks- rather like it. Seems fair enough.

I liked living in Isaan too- although partly because I could always escape to Pattaya or elsewhere when I wanted. Guess some people are just too easy to please and happy with their own lives, rather than whinging about others.

Seems to me, the more you question others decisions and actions, the less happy you are with your own. I hope you like where you live, but it doesn't affect my happiness.
