Expect newer and improved opposition parties to be created regardless of the outcome.

          Future Forward Party must disband

          more later

10 year ban on 15 executives

The Constitutional Court on Friday dissolved a key opposition party for violating election laws by accepting an illegal loan from its billionaire founder.

The Future Forward Party was found guilty after the court considered the 191 million baht loan it received from party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit to be a donation, which is forbidden by the voting laws.

Apart from disbanding the party, the court banned 15 executives of the party from politics for 10 years, including its founder Thanathorn. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/polit...nded-by-court/

What to say? Oh, shock horror.

But in reality a predictable decision from a corrupt, illegitimate court on behalf of a corrupt, illegitimate government. It carries no more Judicial weight than the rice paper it is written on.

I'm afraid we are going to need to see considerable swathes of blood on the streets before Thailand can ever rid itself of the cadres that so obviously hold it back. If there was ever a nation ripe for a rerun of the French Revolution, this is it.

                • FFP dissolved, executives banned for 10 years

The Constitutional Court has dissolved the Future Forward Party (FFP) and banned its executives from politics for 10 years for accepting 191.3 million baht from an illegitimate source.

The court ruled the money party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit lent to the party was considered other benefits by the intention of Section 66 of the Political Parties Act, which limits donations to 10 million baht per donor per year.

The court said the EC would then proceed to take criminal action against Mr Thanathorn and the 10 party executives, including secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokkul and spokesperson Pannika Wanich.

According to related laws, if convicted, Mr Thanathorn will be jailed for not more than five years while the executives will be imprisoned for not more than three years.

Since Thailand had its first political parties law in 1998, the Constitutional Court has disbanded 110 parties, including FFP on Friday.

And such activities go farther back then your quoted 1998.

Nothing will ever change until the omnipresent influential ones are cut free.

Expecting the long awaited mass protests.

As long as the good people know what they're protesting for.

                      Otherwise, all moot.
