Are those islands just of California, and is Hawaii 5 miles off the Florida coast?
Hang on, Hawaii is how far away from the US mainland?
Good job Hawaii is a state, not an invaded and occupied land the US marines landed on, took control of, removed the government of the time, then filled the place with Americans who voted to make it part of America.
If that'd been the case, the US would have been able to say sod all about China's claim.Last edited by fred; 06-23-2016, 04:10 AM.

Funny you should mention that ... the Chinese Navy were in Pearl Harbor in December.
Here they are sailing alongside US warships. Seeing as the Chinese Navy has only one carrier, Liaoning, based in Zhanjiang, part of the South Sea Fleet, I doubt they would sail it far from that area of responsibility. Instead they sent guided-missile destroyers.

And Chinese warships visited the US mainland (Florida) a month earlier.

The decision handed down today was from a tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. Give it a rest fred, you're tedious and always wrong.Attached FilesLast edited by Texpat; 07-12-2016, 08:50 PM.

Poor China. Scolded by the UN like a recalcitrant schoolboy.
Then look at the new Chinese military bases, all on the oil route the US is threatening.
There is no Chinese expansionism, just Chinese defence against American aggression in the region.

You have to read the right hand column of page three, the bit where it explains about China's economic might being an economic problem for the states and notes China's interest in peace.
The only threat from China is economic, their military build up being a defence against American expansionism, as we see explained in this US government document.

The US of Arse tells us anyone intent on expansionism in the Pacific by island grabbing is dangerous and must be controlled.
Perhaps they're right, especially if you look at American island grabbing in the Pacific.
The idiot 'do as I say, not as I do' yanks are the most dangerous force on earth, and have carried out more mass murdering terrorist attacks than any other country, ever.
They've murdered their way around the planet, always refusing to committed their proven terrorists to trial.

The greatest nation on Earth gathered up a few specks in the Pacific, only one became a state, while European nations carved up all of Africa. Who is expansionist? Please. Stop embarrassing yourself, Ferd.
The US doesn't have to "own" foreign countries like Ireland, Gibraltar, Falklands, Australia etc., to demonstrate it's power.
People of the world respect the US without being under its thumb.

America condemns China, but has done worse in the past, especially with the US invasion and annexation of Hawaii where you tossed the government in prison, eventually holding votes but seriously bent ones where only the invading population was allowed to vote.
What was that about Chinese expansionism, or has China just gathered up a few specks in the Pacific, all in the South CHINA sea area?

Originally posted by Texpat View PostNo, China is creating specks in order to claim/grab territory just a few kilometers off the coasts of other sovereign nations -- not America. Imagine if the French claimed the Channel and told Brittles to keep out.
Sorry, did I mention Hawaii was a sovereign nation until you invaded?
At least China isn't stuffing the rightful rulers in prison in order to steal land, it's creating land in DISPUTED waters, and there's little to say China has less of a claim that anyone else.
America is sticking its fat nose into a dispute that has nothing to do with it.
