*1b* If However, I select the option 'Basic Uploader' (bottom far right corner) I can see and select all files on my desktop. After selecting 'Upload file(-s)' (No button there, just text) the chosen picture shows up in the reply box and can be posted. This is the method I use now to post the images on this thread. No problem, just a small detour.

*2a* After uploading to an external site (imgur in my case) and getting the URL link I copy the link in the box 'URL'. The box "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" is ticked. Long wait and panel pops up with "Error: invalid file"

2b. Un-ticking the option "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" and your file shows up in the reply box. This option I can use also but slightly more complex/time-consuming and I guess it also works this way linking from Photobucket, Facebook, Twitter, Line and the likes (me no hab)

When you want to send images with a PM you also need to use this method.

Another strange thing I just noticed while looking at the post above.... Why are all 5 images different widths? All the original .png's are 800 pixels wide (heights vary) so can't figure out why they all show differently (and none 800 px. wide, I guess)? System settings?

I've had the same issue, have to use the basic uploader.
Speed not great, but seems ok.

I posted from the URL box and unchecked the remote file location and voila! I also resized my picture to 800x600 before I uploaded it onto photobucket.

I just tried uploading from my computer without hitting the basic upload and my image that was close to 800x600 came out perfect. It shows small while I'm typing, but when I hit send the image is the perfect size. So it works for me. Maybe the trick is resizing your photos by at least 800X600 before uploading from computer.
