  • Not really travel, but . . .

Had a meeting with potential investors here yesterday at a 'Malaysia Innovation' conference . . . it really is an impressive bit of architecture

Did a week in KL about 10 years back.

Have to see if I have any digital pics

Remember one day walking from my hotel to the sky tower where there were some great views, and then off to the Petronas Twin towers

Set in very nice gardens, but I don't think you were allowed up the towers, only up to the 10th floor or so. Petronas oil offices above that.

When I was working for a US MNC we had our offices on the 30-something floor . . . very nice, indeed, though I preferred living in Singapore

There is a very good indoor/underground aquarium in the complex and all sorts

Nanny states don't get to build tall buildings anymore . . . obviously

So, let's see some pics of other tall buildings

                Good idea.

Indonesia's tallest Building is a bit of a baby by comparison at 262 metres and 48 floors, but I like the architecture.

Thailand's Bayoke Tower II is 328 metres, with antennae.

A typical 7% occupied Doha skyscraper . . . like most of these buildings, no-one inhabits them, whether commercial or resident ion.

Big money coincides with big ego

This is actually the hotel I stayed at on my second trip . . . a fire broke out on the top floor, hence the water-spout at the top.
                      Evacuation was fun . . . Not

I've always liked this tower. It's under rated. I almost broke my arm at the turn table though... I had my arm out there taking a video pointing the cam right down. Then the sharp stainless steel plaque came along. Bar girl saved me

The CN Tower was held only briefly....
                            Not a few decades -
Quite a few years ago, succeeded by structures in Shanghai, KL, Taipei, Shanghai [again] and lastly Dubai.

                            A 10-12 year span.

Get your facts correct before going off on things you know nothing of.

Important point. How many of these structures were built because of local prices and the demand for taller buildings, and how many were built on ego alone?

Who then, are the pretentious egomaniac twats? (unraveling the "narrative" one post at a time.)
