  • Whats your favorite tourist spot in Thailand?

A wat? A shopping mall? Museum? What do you like to do when it comes to tours?

  • #2
I hate crowds. So my favourite spots are those with the fewest other tourists. So off season and out of the way for the main part.

Same for me loathe crowds, I guess that's why I have never been to the grand palace or many other tourist sites, my favorite is walking around the lakes in udon. There is one 5 mins walk from home. It has a normally deserted Chinese temple and as its the smallest, no one goes there.

My back porch. Great view, no crowds, friendly people and fantastic food. Hungry? Pluck some fruit and veggies growing next to the porch.

Short walk to all local attractions.

Poh's corner bar, bistro, shopping mall and social club.
Nee's silk worm farm, silk weaving factory and boutique.
Noi's luxury spa, massage and happy ending parlor.
Bah's clinic offering herbal healing, bone tossing, chanting and buy one get one magic amulets.
Porn's famous petting zoo and ghanja farm. Sample her fine weed then watch and mingle with pigs, buffalo, chickens and cows.
Fish and relax on the banks of Norton's fishing and community swimming hole. Fishing is great. Catching not so great.
Last but not least Wat Never Finished. Stroll through the gardens. Listen to the sound of silence only interrupted by monks quietly chanting, croaking frogs, and a rare bark from Tomdee when a stranger arrives.

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

              No porkies. Marketing speak.

Avoided Noi's when you were here. Exclusive club. Invite only. Udonites not allowed.

I absolutely love Ao Manao beach near to Prachuap Kiri Kkan in the low season. A beautiful long curved beach, NO vendors, very small tourist presence and a very slow and relaxed pace. Superb.
                Recommend to anyone.

Second your recommendation. From there all the way south to Bang Sapan Noi is also quiet with great beaches.

Thank you Norton, a lovely part of the country if I say so myself. Next week my good lady and I are flying down to Krabi to visit Ao Nang and Railay beach for a wee break.

                          My house.
                          Looking at the mountains.
                          Near the Mekong.
                          Northern Chiang Rai.

Though I'd love to live on Doi Patang.
One day we might get a bit of a shed up there.
                          Stunning spot.
