If you want to annoy someone, scare the family and not do too much serious harm, seems this did the trick. Foreigners can own houses just not the land they are on, ( beware the landlord who dies, you lose all rights to your 30 year lease ) and 49 % of a business, but act essentially as an owner with convoluted voting share set ups which is illegal as hell but done routinely. Americans can own 100% of a company though through a Thai-USA Amity Treaty registered Thai company.
Far too dodgy for me. Not that I would be any good in a commercial business anyway. thanks for the explanation, often wondered how faring ended up as business owners.
