Facebook user Bryan Flowers said the men were causing trouble on popular tourist spot Soi 6 for a few hours before they went to Roxy bar.
The men were reportedly being aggressive with staff and customers and the manager asked them to pay their tab and move on.
The men began attacking Mr Bates and other customers, according to local reports.
It was reported both men were locked up for the night as police investigated the attack.
The pair were fined and sent on their way without any charges being brought against them, it was said.
