How do you get around in Bangkok?

BTS is turning into a nightmare during morning and late afternoons. Packed as full as the Yamanote Line in Shinjuku on a weekday morning at 7:00. No thanks. It's not so bad if you board on one of the ends and can grab a seat, but the kinneow BTS officials should really add more carriages.
The appeal of the once-fantastic BTS is losing its luster. As others have said, taxis are a better option with two or more travelers.Last edited by Texpat; 09-04-2014, 02:28 PM.

The Maimetang Plantation
Any form of transport in Bangkok is turning into a nightmare now. Taxis get caught in jams and often refuse to take passengers as a consequence. The BTS is crammed much of the time and it is even necessary to wait for another train at times.
My solution is to try and limit my travel around the city to weekends; Friday evenings are a miserable experience.
Our messenger doesn't mind popping out for a few hours and can often fit in shopping errands with business trips.
The office manager has moved close to the office now since the journey into work was becoming unpleasant. She just walks a couple of sois now.

Not a particularly favourite place for me Bangkok, but on the few occasions I have stayed, usually around soi 7- 10 Sukhumvit or down near Patpong, I used To walk around quite a bit with interposed sky train and underground runs on return journeys.
Got a taxi one time to Kanchanaburi and seen the war cemeteries and walked the bridge.

Every time I go back to Bk, I end up staying in the same bluddy part of town and bluddy well resenting it. Stuff getting around, for me at least- I want to go to a part of that shithole that might just reawaken my long dead interest. so there. Apart from the grubby sex soi scene, Bangkok soi life is OK. I wanna get to know the Chinatown better, they are always good places. I'm sure the place has more to offer than my attitude towards it now. But really, Bangkok is a dead metropolis I once enjoyed, dream long dead. Must correct my attitude.

Used to ride a bike when we lived in BKK.
Takes a bit of getting used to, but by far the fastest and most fun option.Originally posted by Ergenburgensmurgen;n186588
What are you talking about, I don't post on Teakdoor.
