The Music thread - post your favourites and tell us why you like them.

I started a music thread over on the otter channel, but there doesnt seem to be any posters passionate about the music I like. TD really is very queit these days....

I am hoping there will be some like minded people over here who I can chat abou my favourite artists with.

I like a lot of music that was out before I was born or was release when I was just an urchin Wally. I just thing artists had more talent then - mostly because they were consantly touring and playing live - as opposed to getting famous from having a large instagram following.

I will kick things off with two of my favourite Tim Buckley songs.I think more people are more famliar with his son, Jeff. Tragically, both Tim and Jeff died in their 20`s.

Sweet Surrender and Dolphins are amazing tracks.

Thanks for posting the link to Sweet Surrender Harry.

It wasn't the version I tried to post, but still nice.

Maybe because my post count is low I cannot post links??

I just love the Jamaican artists from the 60's & 70's.

These guys had so much talent - but never really had the money and fame that should have gone with it.

They were from the ghetto - and the songs about poverty, leaking roofs, etc. were real. You can feel the passion in their songs.

    RESPECT!

This song by Toots and the Maytels won a song competition in Jamaica and launched them to fame in Jamaica. As far as Jamaican fans were concerned, they were bigger and better than Bob Marley. This clip is taken from the Movie featuring Jimmy Cliff - The Harder They Come.

The song is about a wedding party where there were only 20 bottles of cola-wine available for guests - as the bride cried in her bedroom = real ghetto life situation..

Johnny Too Bad is a song about one of the bad boys in the ghetto..

    [Verse 1]
Walking down the road with your pistol in your waist
    Johnny, you're too bad
    Woah woah woii!
Walking down the road with your ratchet in your waist
    Johnny, you're too bad
    Woah woah woii!
You're just robbing and you're stabbing, and you're looting and you're shooting
    Boy, you're too bad
    Too bad
You're just robbing and you're stabbing, and you're looting and you're shooting
    Boy, you're too bad
    Too bad

    [Verse 2]
One of these days when you hear a voice say, "Come"
    Where you gonna run to?
    Woah woah woii!
One of these days when you hear a voice say, "Come"
    Where you gonna run to?
    Woah woah woii!
You're gonna run to the Rock for rescue
    There will be no Rock
    No Rock
You're gonna run to the Rock for rescue
    There will be no Rock
    Nowhere
