  • Where would you like to visit in Spain?

I've put my Asia trip on hold for a few weeks due to a relative's failing health here, so my Mrs will join me in Spain in a couple of days time. I'll be able to return to the UK far more quickly from there.

She hasn't visited my favourite haunt of Gibraltar yet, so we'll be going there. Seville is the first stop after meeting up in Madrid. Madrid is barely any warmer than England in November, so we won't stay there more than a day.

Where would anyone recommend a visit to?

There could be violent riots in Catalonia, so we might avoid it. Their tourist industry must be taking a bit of a hit at the moment.

It's definitely an interesting time in Barcelona, with passions running high and no regional government as such. But I think things may turn violent. I've seen enough of that shite in Bangkok to last me a lifetime.

The Alhambra is well worth a visit.

Took my Filipino nurse girlfriend for a driving holiday through Andalucia years ago. She really liked it. Never far from sea or mountains and plenty of historical things to see.

I used to ski regularly in the Sierra Nevada when we had a villa near Malaga. I'll definitely spend a day or two in Granada.

My dad had two villas in Mijas , not far from Malaga. One for rental one for family.
When he died mum sold both as they were too much hassle to maintain.

Pity really. Sold the smaller one for about 18,000 pounds. Probably worth about 100,000 now.

Wherever you go ......have a nice trip. It's a nice country.

                Thanks

That's where ours was, up the hill from Fuengirola. Next to a retired judge's huge place with a very expensive 10 foot wall around it.

Have to say that if it were actually possible I would rather live there than here but wifey will only agree to set up shop in a country where we have relatives just in case in old age she finds herself alone without family support .....A nightmare for a lot of Thais.

In my parents villa, you could sit up in bed in the morning, open the patio curtains and look out over the Mediterranean sea. It was right on top of one of the many hills in that area with steep drops all around. Unfortunately the mains water supply was a bit erratic unless you greased the palm of the nearby pump station.

                  Happy days though.

If you're going to Seville, consider Malaga and Granada as other places to visit.

Thanks for the ideas. The plan was cancelled because things happened in the UK sooner than expected. Will probably go there in the spring.
Off to meet the Mrs in Asia this weekend.....

A cold & misty day in England and I'm spending hours arranging relatives' travel & accommodation schedules for a gathering tomorrow. Never mind.

Where would you like to visit in Spain?

The Texas Bar in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria!
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.
