  • What's your favourite whisky

I'm popping to Sainsbury's later for some whisky. What's your favourite brand?

    Blended or single malt?

Not mad on whisky much. Prefer bourbon .

If you are not a purist , some of the fake Thai scotch whiskies are not too dreadful.
Blend 285 has to be better than Hong Tong or saeng Som just on principle.

Glenmorangie 10 year old will be a very good introduction to single malts for you.

Tops all the 12 yr old single-malts that are priced a bit above it.

          Only 26 quid.

          Damn that's good value.

Before it's gone, pick up a btl of Glenfiddich 12 yr old, and taste test.

Money's on you'll choose the Glenmorangie 10 yr old.

I usually have them with a mixer, so it doesn't much matter. But I had a shot of McKendrick's blended neat last night, and it was great.

Even cheaper in tesco, but sold out.

They soon sorted it. Better than a grunt and shrug of the shoulders at Tesco Loadass.

If you ask in Scotland they'll say anything not produced by Diageo, so forget Johnnie Walker etc.
I visited TC a few times as a guest but had to stop. It is a sickening place. - Aging One

I take it you have not forgotten that Ireland produces some very fine pot still whiskeys. Considering that they taught the Scots how to make the stuff perhaps they should get some air time.

If not used to drinking spirits straight, also buy a decent still mineral water, a few drops can also help to really open up some of the flavors.
