Just wondering if anyone visits it these days?
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

I think Pat got as far as the front door before his religious callings got the better of him and he headed off to some hill temples

Though I also like the riverboat hotel things. little balcony floating on the river. The 2 hour longtail speedboat ride that stops off at a big jungle cave is fun once and good for family etc when they are over. Nice to sit on your balcony that's floating on the river with a cocktail as the sun goes down.
Stayed at the Sky Resort earlier this year but the room rate was only 800 baht ? Must have been off season. Big rooms but beds a little bit hard. Walking distance to the strip is a plus. The terraced restaurant overlooking the river is nice for a beer but the food is nothing special. Very popular so was full on our last trip hence had to stay at the Naiya Place near Pats hotel.

        The pool at Sky Resort.

Talking of hotels , I have one pet peeve that I find a bit strange.

Am I the only hotel guest that wears glasses, reads a book in bed and likes a glass of water nearby in case I want to wet a dry throat in the middle of the night ?

So.....why is it that so few hotels , even expensive ones , don't provide a bedside table or only one ?

Your stuff has to go on the floor where it's not so convenient. Half the time I have to improvise my own by resting my travel case on the rubbish bin. Not as good but better than nout.

I found the two musems quite depressing. Maybe it was the lighting or the tourists doing selfies with the skeletons on display.

But we did head upwards to a couple of temples, and what a nice ride there it was. We headed for Wat Tham Sua & Wat Baan Tham.

The road up takes you past a well kept graveyard. Chinese and hiso I reckon.

            River view opposite graveyard

After a few twists and turns the road led us here. This was the only way up.

There was once a cable train but that looked well beyond repair.

The mechanism at the top was well ****ed.

            As we went in

There best shot I took was at the temple but looking the wrong way.

Behind the fake facade of buddhist statues of all sizes sold at silly prices, Thais doing their best to be Chinese tourists, and the viewing levels covered in bird shit, where we couldn't walk as we'd taken off our shoes at the entrance. So we decided to go. Everywhere you stepped you were in the way of someones selfie. Making merit my ****ing arse. Counted 6 farangs who seemed spiritualized by the whole place. They were carted off in a tatty songthaew to an overpriced riverside restaurant I suspect.

So off we went to the more chilled, much less congested, McTourist-free zone.

            Wat Baan Tham......

And we were gonna take the steps, all the way to the top.

              Fantastic views at the summit

And this was at the very top. All that way to make merit.

I know a lot of folks say ''you've seen one temple, you've seen them all blah blah..''

But this was great, and a bit tiring up those stairs. On the way down a farang and his young bargirl went past. He was wheezing and coughing. She told him ''I tell you laew you must stop smoke ok?''

True enough the lighting is bad especially in the lower level and if the 'curators' of the museum don't start taking better care of the documents (which are quite interesting if you like that sort of thing) they will turn to dust.

Good pics Pat - very nice!
