German Tourist Stabbed to Death on Koh Samui
After living in Thailand for so long, I have come to the realization that no matter how many expats tell me they feel safer in Thailand than their home country, that Thailand is still a dangerous country. Year after year, I have read news articles about foreigners in Thailand being robbed, beaten, stabbed, shot, poisoned, and yes, even dismembered. The latest news report is about a German tourist, 49- year-old Gleich Thomas, being stabbed to death on Koh Samui.

An Inexpensive Start Up Business in Thailand That Makes 100,000 to 200,000 baht a month
Over the last several years I have met a large number of farangs doing one business with their wife that legally on average pulls in 100,000 to 200,000 baht a month with very little investment. Some of the foreigners I know set up a company with this business model, while many more are running it under the radar and have their Thai wife or girlfriend handle the day to day operations. When doing this business without setting up a company and having a work permit, it is extremely important for the... -

How to Rent a Room In Bangkok for 1500 Baht ($48.00) a Month by Chuck "Charlie" Wilson
I keep reading all of these so called "expat experts" all over the internet saying you need to make 100,000 to 150,000 baht a month to live in Bangkok, Thailand. That is a load of buffalo poo! I know one expat with a Thai wife and luk krueng daughter that only has about $500.00 US dollars available to spend every month. His Thai wife does work, but she only makes around 10,000 baht a month at her job. They are making it just fine. Sometimes things are a little tight, but they manage. I know another farang expat that makes 60,000 baht a month as a teacher. His Thai wife makes 15,000 baht a month at her job. He saves around 35,000 baht a month and has been doing so for the last five years. At last count, he had nearly 2 million baht that he has saved tucked away in his Thai bank account far away from Uncle Sam's greedy, dollar grabbing paws!

Kinnaree Restaurant Sukhumvit Soi 8 Bangkok
If you are looking for an elegant, but traditional Thai meal, then you might want to drop by the Kinnaree Restaurant Sukhumvit Soi 8 in Bnagkok. You are going to spend a bit more than you would at a street corner noodle stall, but you will find the service and food at Kinnaree Restaurant is worth it. A dinner for two can run over 3000 baht with appetizers, drinks, the main course, deserts and of course a tip. Although you may consider forgoing the tip since there already is a 10% service charge factored into the bill already.

Going to the Doctor's Office in Thailand Won't Drain Your Wallet
If you get sick in your home country, you are often looking at a couple hundred dollars spent between a doctor's visit and any prescriptions you might need to by at the local Walgreen's Drug Store. Fortunately, the cost for a doctor's visit and prescriptions at a local clinic in Thailand are an entirely different story. Neighborhood clinics with decent Thai doctors can be found in every city and village of Thailand. I have always found the doctors in Thai clinics to be proficient in English as well... -

One Expat Makes $50 to $75 Per Hour Working From His Bangkok Condo
The other day I had long lunch with an American expat that is enjoying the easy life in the heart of Bangkok working around 15 to 20 hours a week from the comfort of his condo in Thong Lor. He makes $50 to $75 an hour and he sets his own hours. He says he averages over $500 to $800 US dollars a week and has had several high weeks over $1000. Not only are his hours flexible, but he is able to work anywhere that has a decent internet connection. He was telling me about a nice week long beach trip... -

The Thai Police: What Proactive Changes Should They Make?
The police in Thailand already have a tough job, so I am going to try not to knock them too much. For one, their wages are absolutely below what a person that puts his life on the line needs to be. Thai police officers also have to purchase their own weapons, uniforms and I am told, their patrol motorcycles. I cringe every time I see two or three of them on one motorbike weaving in and out of the crazy and dangerous Thai traffic system. On top of all the expenses, they have to be in the heat, rain... -

The V8 Diner Bangkoks only 1950s American Diner
We were hooking it along Sukhumvit and thought to pop into Sunrise Tacos for Mexican food. When we arrived we found a new American restaurant called the V8 Diner. The Sunrise Taco's parking lot had been replaced with tables and chairs for this new eater and inside seating is also available. I am told that half of the tables are for Sunrise and the other half is for the V8 Diner. I am also told the V8 and Sunrise are not affiliated. This struck me as odd as both employ staff from the Philippines and they are sharing eating space. But whatever, if Greg really does have both places wants to keep it mum, then that is his business!
