Driving habits in Issan are atrocious even when the drivers are not distracted and paying full attention to what they are doing. The ignorant, selfish decisions Thai drivers in this part of the country make DELIBERATELY, are shocking. Traffic laws are only theoretical as the police are more useless than tits on a boar.

Have you ever changed lanes in another country and inadvertently cut in front of someone without getting a load of horn blowing abuse. Thais at least in Bangkok, for the most are quite considerate drives. Agree a bit slow and doddering at times and it does take a few seconds to put down the phone when the lights change but overall not so bad.

Agree a lot of the congestion is cause by incessant lane changing to get three cars in front but that is mainly because of the piss poorly designed road junctions.

Different drivers and characteristics, in Thailand stupid and low skills but tolerant, similar to Malaysia, Philippines all of the above with no tolerance, UK highly skilled but very in tolerant the USA very tolerant (if they don't have a gun) but low skill set, OZ NZ medium skills and medium tolerant if they aren't Asian.
