    Veerakan: UDD never dies

A red-shirt leader has urged Prayuth Chan-ocha to take the prime minister seat, saying whoever seizes the ruling power deserves it.

"He shouldn't care about criticism that he staged the coup for himself," said Veerakan Musikapong, a leader of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), after attending the National Reform Council kickoff event at the army club on Saturday morning.

"One shouldn't be afraid of getting his hands dirty when catching a frog," he quipped.

On the reform process, Mr Veerakan said he had no comment but said personally he wanted to see the reform of the judicial process which has been viewed as double-standard.

Asked about the next move of red-shirt people, Mr Veerakan said everybody had been keeping a low profile for now.

"I can't say on their behalf because any move must be the resolution of the UDD," he said.

"But the UDD never dies. The seeds has already branched out," he said.

"Whether the red shirts will make a move or end its role as requested by Gen Prayuth I couldn't say. It hinges on whether the behaviour [of the coup makers] goes against people's sentiment or not."
