what's the problem with PI food? I've heard that it's more westernized than Thai food, but is that a bad thing?
Guess you need to experience it to appreciate the blandness, the lack of creativity and the basically unappetizing fare that it is?
Reality check: We've all experienced Italian, Greek, Brazilian (Churrascaria), Spanish food etc. but have you ever heard of a Filipino Food Restaurant - outside of the PI that is?
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'll bother visiting. Some of the islands look beautiful, but I'll miss the Malaysia food.
Phillipines is one of those countries I've never been bothered about visiting. Dunno why. No spiteful or malicious reasons.
I've heard sexpats in Thailand boast ''It's so brilliant, the girls speak english, and have big boobs, not like in Thailand'' ......But...Who gives a fcuk?
Speaks english? You wanna talk politics with her?
Big boobs? What are you, a teenage kid who wanks in his bedroom?
Maybe I could pop over for a week and take a look.
Thing is, so many westerners in Thailand gravitate towards and rave about its islands, which make up a tiny part of the landmass. The whole of the Philippines is islands. That seems to be a good thing.

And if you get down south towards Zamboanga there's lots of nasty pirates and Muslims that don't like the Kafir so those idyllic-looking palm-speckled sandy beach islands suddenly lose their charm.

Satun seemed OK. I've caught the ferry to Langkawi there a couple of times. It's no different to Nong Chok to the east of Minburi in Bangkok, Trang or Krabi. It's the other coast that needs avoiding.
I've no problem with Muslims per se. I ignore them in Malaysia, and as long as I'm not sleeping within earshot of a mosque, I've no problem. The great thing about Georgetown, and even moreso Singapore, is that they're the minority.
Walking around the shopping malls of KL and Georgetown feels more like being in Taipei than a majority muslim country - most are packed with Chinese with very few muslims about.

But there's no requirement to eat the local cuisine.
My GF is a Filipina, but we rarely eat Filipino food.
Unlike a lot of Thai's, she realises that she can also cook food which is indigenous to other countries and cultures.
When we do eat Filipino, then its food that I do like.
Caldaretta, Sisig, Adobo, Chicken inasal, Turon & Halo-halo are all very tasty.

There's over 7,000 islands in the PH. Most of which are perfectly safe.

Cruised through a lot of them some years ago but didn't go ashore. As been said, these islands are idyllic in all appearances but as you know, the further south you get, the dodgier it gets in terms of insurgents.

What? No Baalut chased with a San Maguel?
So don't go south... just as I wouldn't go to the south of Thailand.
And no. There's no requirement to try Balut, and I never intend to try.
