Some Scots guy said to me last month. He was behind me in the queue at a barbers, and we got talking. I don't volunteer information about my personal situation to anyone so hearing that was surprising.

I hadn't asked him what he did or his visa arrangements so I assume he's an expert, maybe a consultant

Btw, the barbers was Easy cut, which can be found in most MRT station metro malls

Don't know if I would trust any random Farang regarding anything imm/visa related.
Akin to following respective threads on TVF, where one can find a hundred different versions of this and that - and usually haven't a clue.

The best and most secure manner is to do your own research, investigating, and documentation requirements.

If my kids are going to study english in Thailand I want a female teacher. Period.

I'm sure there are blokes capable but there are too many that are incapable, scruffy, deadbeat whore chasers and suspicious looking. The types running scared from the TM30 and visa run clampdown

It is because there are too many language mills, that hire pretty much anyone with a CELTA or not (unqualified). So in that regard I believe a police check is mandatory. I would not want my kid being taught by someone with no experience just off the street. I dont know if there are as many illegals now though.
Any good school will ask for a police check, but suprisingly not all will. In China and Korea it is a prerequisite to even get a visa.

Maybe the days of the skint visa running unqualified ajarns winging it has finished, but I doubt it's been eradicated.

This TM30 stuff might be the final nail in the coffin for some but many still run wild

The main problem is the type of person that Thailand attracts to teaching English, which are in the main those attracted to promiscuity, low prices accompanied by low quality, and laziness. Most are men, and the few women seem to be somewhat odd. There are some fine females teaching proper subjects in proper schools on proper salaries, but that's all.
