When I ask this, I am not talking about about being friends with your Thai girlfriend or spouse or any women in her family. I am talking about having a friendship with a Thai girl you have never dated ? Have you ever hung out with a Thai girl - no affection, sex or any romance?

Yes I have. Quite a few actually. I was working for a company under a US umbrella and got to know a lot of people. Most were assembly women. Did a lot of stuff with them after work. Many are still my friends today and we email frequently. And if you are wondering, YES quite a few were extremely attractive, educated and single. -
Yes. Knew a girl who worked in Pat Pong but stayed in the same apartment block. She knew I was a monger and I knew she was a hooker so we made good friends and swapped notes. We used to go to the cinema together or eat out a cheap street stalls. Neither of us tried to take it further since it was really nice to have a friend of the opposite sex.Comment

I was a long time regular at an all day cafe/restaurant. There were 3 or 4 very attractive Thai girls working there. We became friends and remain so over 5 years later.
I often joke with the owner that he would do more business if the staff were not so ugly.
One of the girls left to start her own business and we became quite close even though we were both in a relationship. We used to shop together depending on who wanted what. She would ask my advice on clothing and accessories, which sounds a bit gay, but she was keen to westernise herself.
She would help if I was buying stuff and she did not want me to get ripped off, or she would help translate.

Sure, quite a lot. I've made friends with quite a few female Thai colleagues at various companies I've worked at. I've also made friends with various women I've met in the course of daily life. It comes as a bit of a surprise to me that there are people (ok, maybe it's just rigger
) who think that's unusual.

Really I think some of you use the word friend a bit easy, been invited to lots of weddings and birthdays that doesn't make me friends, and could only imagine my wife's reaction if I took a Thai girl shopping.
why would a Thai girl want to be friends with me, I hate shopping and it's for poofs, I don't enjoy sitting and eat, I like to scoff my food and move on as it's wasting time. I hate talking for no reasons and hate talking on telephones. I like to hang out in smokey rooms and drink beer and listen to hard rock or thrash music. I prefer to ride a bike every when possible even if it's 40 deg.
Really what Thai women wants to be friends with me unless they are after a length or my wallet even if I am a good looking barsted.

The cafe I mentioned was open air and because the staff were friendly, efficient and easy on the eye, the place caught on with a very mixed group of expats.
I would spend a few hours there most days, either for breakfast or lunch.
I don't live there now but still call in occasionally and still get my 'regular' 10% discount.Comment
