Dating a Thai girl - do you expect her to speak English well?

Do you like to date a Thai girl that speaks only Thai or do you prefer a decent English speaker?

I only ask as I have a Swiss friend that says it is better to date a girl that speaks no English. he said it is better for learning Thai and she is probably a more traditional Thai that has not been ruined by western thinking.

it is a plus if you really care about learning a 3rd world language that has no use outside of Thailand. I would hate to not be able to communicate with a girl I was dating. I think it would lead to frustration, misunderstanding, fights and maybe murder! Her killing me not the other way around.
