Safety Standards in Thailand

Now that I am working an industry job back here in America, I am remembering the lack of safety measures in Thailand. I was issued a hard hat, reflective vests and the company bought me a pair of steel toe boots and 1 pair of prescription safety glasses. I also have to go through an extensive safety class.

Are there any companies in Thailand that have those types of safety requirements in place? I remember seeing Thais building bridges with flip flops on and no safety rigging.

I would guess some of the auto factories and other international companies have strict safety rules.
