Do Thais marry a farang to get citizenship in his country?

My wife and I were asked by my sister if she married me to get to come America. She was polite about it, so I did not go off. The general consensus of all Americans is Thais and other foreigners are looking for a green card and citizenship when they marry us. My wife says most Thai girls would prefer to marry a farang that wants to live in Thailand.She says it is easier for most Thai girls that way as they do not have to learn a new language, get used to farang food, deal with cold weather and other things. My missus likes the US of A for it's cleanliness and being more organized than Thailand. She also thinks the justice system is fair and that there is no justice in Thailand. She likes the different seasons and can play in the snow, falling lives, emerging spring green and hot summers. She digs all the farang food and refusing to pay Thai restaurant high prices cooks all her own Thai foodies. She married me knowing I would never leave Thailand for more than a visit. I did not plan on it, but I did get her a green card and US citizenship so we can travel the world without all the restrictions put on Thais. I think she would follow me anywhere in the world where I would want to live. Be that South America, Europe, Asia or probably even Africa! All that said, no, I do not think she was looking for a green card, but ultimately she go it and more.

Because it is my opinion based on

1. The high number of weirdo farangs I met there

2. You cannot say Thais and other nationalities are simply looking for citizenship abroad when they marry, anymore than you can say a Thai girl only wants to marry a foreigner and stay in Thailand to benefit herself in the form of property ownership or whatever, although it does of course happen. One might slag off a Thai or Filipina, Japanese or whatever for turning out the cow after the ceremony but what seems to be forgotten is one of your own can turn out the same way, even worse maybe - look at the divorce rates for Europe and America. Marriage is like many other things - pot luck!

The ones that do are always disappointed when they set foot in a western nanny state and realize that everyone is up to their eyeballs in debt and are just as cash poor as a rural Thai rice farmer

What percentage of humans on the planet emigrate to a much poorer country with a very different culture? My best guess is 1 in 10,000 (700,000 of 7 billion).

It is a highly abnormal thing to spend the rest of your life doing, and there is strong correlation between personality disorders and abnormal psychology.

Since the population of Bangkok is much the same as London the numbers are more likely to be on an even keel. In addition I would think there would more Thais with personality disorders in the rural areas where, as you know, people suffer harsh economic conditions. What percentage of people emigrate to a poorer country is largely irrelevant since their are myriad reasons why people do so. Therefore there is nothing abnormal about somebody moving to a poorer country. Please define abnormal psychology.

WTF are you going on about? This is about farangs who emigrate to Thailand, not about Thais. Do I think that the majority of Londons are abnormal? No. Do I think that the majority of farangs who emigrate to Thailand are abnormal? Certainly, since what they are doing with their life is highly unusual.

You think it is normal probably because you have done it, feel proud of it, and surround yourself with others that have done it and feel proud of it - much like paedophile rings normalise their abnormal behaviour via safety in numbers.
