Never understood the reason of why people appear to be so desperate to fit in a particular social group (most fake) or circle when on a forum. I've been a member since 2008 on TV and personally I've never had a problem with it. But to be honest, I very rarely get involved in the tit-for-tat that goes on with some members. I consider myself more of an onlooker as I post occasionally. The motoring section used to interest me but since TonyBKK (who I didn't really get on with) but enjoyed his posts, and others like him such as Satonic who have disappeared, I've not paid too much attention. I've signed out as quick as in, recently. Likewise with TV, I only post on the motoring section.

Additionally, It makes me wonder what some folks actually do with their time, as they clearly have a lot of it with 50K posts, on numerous forums under different names. I find it even more bizarre when people have changed the long-time username following a series of arguments, reinvented themselves to appear different but come out as themselves by their posting style, only to change back to their original names because there has been a change in mods. It is up to them of course, but they do it for a reason, and usually it is because they haven't figured reality and they are truly hiding behind a name. There is something psychologically wrong, I'm sure.

As for the OP, I haven't yet figured who you are because I don't really follow the T4T on TD, but trying to score brownie points on another forum doesn't do it!

As for the ones calling boring twats, I can only assume you're a member of a forum circle and have yet to succeed in life!

They're not at all. But like I said when people know they know and that's all there is to it. I'm as disliked on Freak Door as you are (for very different reasons I hasten to add) but I would never be so gutless that I wouldn't be happy to admit that I'm me. If you need to do that then it's entirely up to you but it screams of weirdness to me. Wanting to post on a forum but not having the balls (so to speak) to be a real person sharing those opinions. There must be reasons why someone would want to hide from themselves like that and I don't think any of them are good.

Totally agree. However, some would maybe go as far as saying, a woman joining a Thai centric forum which is 99% used by men who probably 85% of have Thai wives, just to repeatedly say how much she hates living in Thailand, hates Thai people and hates Farang men who are married to Thai people, could be the very definition of craving conflict.

Good post. Satonic was one of the very few people from that forum I would like to buy a beer. Seems like a top bloke and contributed the exact kind of stuff I wanted to see. A forum full of people like him (and people like you) without the mental inadequacy and forum addicts would be great. You don't control those people though and posters like Satonic don't hang around.

You get two main types of forum poster. You get the ones who are happy and have an enjoyable life and want to share some of that positivity with other people, and you get the people for who the actual act of posting on a forum is a main part of their life. Now it stands to reason that if posting on a forum is one of your main hobbies, then you aren't likely to be a very happy chappy, which leads to all the stalking, conflict, and pathetic name calling.

And what about the post that was actually about a Mexican bottle of beer but you snuck (is that not a word? It should be!) the notion that 50% of what Thais eat is jism in for good measure? Nothing to say about the actual topic of spicy beer?

Thought Ant was band for ever on TD? Not sure why so many gets tide in knots about what TD is today. Used to be some good info threads travel, building Thai life and a bunch of other stuff. Almost like a personal magazine. Of course then you had the slag fests that went on for years. Good info on here in the News section and sometimes interesting commentary, if TC grows great if not it is fine for what it provides right now.

Ant is still there limited to 5 posts a day (about himself) as in the DH for over 2 years. Was voted off years ago, but still there, quite a nutter IMO.
