It's abnormal but he's not alone. When back in the west most people thought it was cool that someone could work part time and part year, spending the cold half of each year traveling the world. But some bitter miseries, usually those with the ball and chain of an expensive family to breadwin for, would sneer about it.

the typical day in the life of a young retiree.

Up around 6:10 am with the sunrise seven days per week. No need for weekend lie-ins when life is a permanent weekend.

7am tennis hiking sea swimming or gym depending on the day and weather.

The rest of the day is exploring by motorbike, restaurants, beaches, forested mountains, shopping, massages, or relaxing in the villa or beside the pool. Plus some online bits and pieces I'm doing at my own pace.

This is a thread about retirement but the control freak instead wants to focus on someone not getting a job that was applied for years ago. That happened to nearly everyone on the planet at some time, and is easily resolved by getting another.

What doesn't happen often and can't be easily resolved is your native country deciding that people which abandoned it in their 20s because they selfishly became fixated with lording it over and parasiting off small poorly educated Asians can't then return aged 60 to parasite of its taxpayers. Such scum isn't welcome
