I personally prefer foreign men, but due to cultural differences, language etc.. I have not married one. I can't say all western men are a certain way so there is no way I'll be with one. I also can't say all foreign men are a certain way and that is why I'll be with one. Duh.

I am sure they will be very happy together once she moves to the US.
Why doesn't he want to buy land in Sisaket, if not for their retirement then at least to help her parents/relatives? Is he sticky, is he really serious about their love and the future?Originally posted by Ergenburgensmurgen;n186588

How many foreigners living in Thailand that you know can hold a serious conversation about - say - politics or social issues either local or international?
I have had one Thai girlfriend, she has an LLB from USC, we worked together at a US MNC.

There are not many positive stories on the internet when it comes to Thai woman, but horror stories make for better reading than a lived happier ever after Thai / farang relationship. As for me, I can only say that I am super happy with my wife. She is is easy going and we get a long well. She takes care of me and the house and we just have a good time together. I can't see her cheating and she has yet to try and milk me for money.

As per case, they usually find the connections steeped in the illusion of superiority and quite full of themselves.

This goes back to the crux of the discussion, though - the inability of a couple (and I'm sure there are some/many that are happy on many levels - like Cooter) to actively discuss and communicate about many issues that don't only cover what is for lunch/dinner etc...
This is not, by any means, down only to the woman but also to the foreigner who probably wasn't the brightest bulb in the shop at home either
I can't imagine not having a chat about the goings-on locally and the world with my wife over breakfast and the newspaper on a week-end
