  • The Tricks of The Trade Thread

I just gave Delayed a heads-up on a simple way to upload a video. I can do that because I have the info about that.

Got me thinking. Let's have a thread where we all give explicit advice on how to do things that our specific skillsets have taught us. We all have different skillsets so if we all contribute this thread should eventually be a mine of quality information. Things always look difficult until someone explains the basics and the simple process/steps.

    I'll start it tomorrow

But feel free to start it today (if anyone's reading this tonight )
    Blaze it up.

      Not a bad idea .

But a lot of forum ****tards are too insecure to ask for advice. Then someone will ask something and the insecure ****tards will pile onto them

        The supported fold hold

I grew up in New Jersey (mostly) where every one of my neighbors had a name ending in a vowel. That's right -- Italians. All my friends were wops, too: Papparello, Riccobono, Celleri, Direnzo. There were more pizzerias in our town than any other type of restaurant -- and I'm not talking about Pizza Hut. All family owned and all pretty good.

Having lived in Asia for quite some time, I've watched people eat pizza with a combination of fascination and horror. Most don't seem to grasp the intricacies of such a refined art. If you've ever considered a knife and fork or if you are one of those who don't know how to properly eat a slice of pizza, you've come to the right thread.

        The fold hold:

        20100714-foldhold-full-lede.jpg

Grab the single slice by the two corners and fold lengthwise and give it a pinch as if it was Vinnie's sister's ass. Slowly slide the slice out of the pie without lifting it off the wooden tray (or cardboard box if it's a takeout).

This is the important part (not pictured), as you slowly lift the pinched top of the slice, take your free hand and dive it under to support the pointy end. This should only require two or three fingers. This part is crucial and the targeted support point should be about two inches from the tip. The first bite should be taken quickly or else the guts of the pie (toppings) will flop out onto the tray faster than water shoots down a dam's sluice gate.

The fold hold effectively doubles the amount of pizza you inhale with each bite so trim down the intake rate. This method is also an insurance policy against scalded palate syndrome where melted cheese has the effect of industrial-strength acid on the roof of your mouth. The fold hold conveniently hides the gooey deliciousness on the inside of the crust.

There is a full tutorial here if you require more instruction:

We could do it just for the forum - but it might be quite short and uninspiring.
So lets cover the whole gamut - the entire smorgasboard of top tips

Hadn't thought of that but good idea. If people are facing a particularly vexing question regarding how to hold a pizza correctly or what guage anchor bolts to use for the loveswing in their shagpad so as to support a 4-stack - post it here.

                      Also "Thai Runnings"

I'm not good on temples or ancient fvcking political history ..

But, I have a pretty good idea of how this place runs under the surface - so I'll have a bash at those questions too if any newbies are flummoxed.

So a thread about tricks of the trade has turned into a TD-esque slagging match already. Was it ever really about information.
